Happy Halloween

Silly little me thought that this would be the first Halloween in I don't know how many years that I would not actually be sewing something for Halloween on Halloween. Why? Because all of the costumes have been taken care of for at least two weeks. But guess what this foolish mortal forgot? A trick-or-treat bag for the boy.

Ugh.

I was about to go out to the store and just pick one up when my senses kicked back in and I realized that I had a closet full of fabric, and surely, surely there would be some that I could make a simple little bag out of. And guess what? There was! So! Here is what I quickly put together this morning. Halloween morning. The Halloween morning that I would not have to sew anything. That one. Yeah.

Boybag

He loves it, so I am happy!

And as I was taking these pictures outside, I noticed the jack-o-lantern that the husband carved a couple of days ago now had an under bite and looks like an old man who has taken out his top dentures. Bwahahahaha!

Jacklantern

Oh. And remember the ghostie lollies I made for the party? This is what they looked like attached to the favor bags.

And look! Another conspirator. What is with these ghosties?

Ghostiebags3

I swear I don't set them up to it. They just have their own personalities. Jessi can vouch for me. Right? Jessi?

Anyway, Happy Halloween, everyone!

Only just

Just some Tuesday cuteness for you as I try to pull my life together.

Boycomputer

Does anyone else's life get out-of-control-crazy this time of year, or is that just me?

A basket of ghosties

Very much inspired by this post over at domesticali, I whipped up a basket of ghostie lollies for the Halloween party this Friday. It's for our homeschool group. I love how they look all scrunched up in the basket.

Especially those two up near the top. Do you see them? They look like they are conspiring something. Here is a better look:

Makes me giggle every time I look at them. Because seriously, what are they talking about?

Better late than never

Every Autumn my one and only goal is to go apple picking. However, almost every Autumn it seems the apple picking season slips by me with nary a pick. At least not by me or one of the family. As I have already stated, I love Autumn. Okay, I said I love October, but really it's because October is Autumn. So. I love Autumn. But it's only flaw is that it is just too darn short! At least the apple picking part of it is. Well. Not this year, Autumn! Not this year! I was determined to make it happen. So when the husband had a day off during the week, I knew I needed to act fast. It just so happened that the husband and a friend of his needed to get together to talk some business, and we had already talked about how fun it would be for our families to go apple picking together, so plans were made and we were off to Honey Hill Orchards. It was a bit further away than I remembered, but then I was pregnant with the boy the last time we made the trip, who knows what my mind was doing then. But we made it. Eventually.

The amigurumis that Mia sent me from the swap? They wanted to come, too...and how could I resist their faces? By the way, they have told me their names. I think they are starting to come out of their shells. Her name is Penny, which is what we thought it was when she first arrived here, but being so shy we weren't sure. And the monk? His name is Myles, and he is a little more on the adventurous side than Penny.

Before we actually got to the orchards we had to take advantage of this photo shoot with the kids.

After passing many a tree with nothing but old fairly rotten apples on them (we are a tad late in the picking season here), we finally found some red delicious trees that were brimming with good ones. Here, Penny and Myles start their apple picking extravaganza.

The boys find a bug.

Myles finds Popi...

...that one startled him a bit. So much so that he needed a break. Finding a patch of sun, he disrobed and basked for a bit. Can you see him?

This next one's for you, Suzie *wink*. I have no clever comment for it, it's just a gratuitous photo of Myles with his robe off. That and it shows the incredible similarity between he and my dad.

Hhomylespopi

Isn't he so stinkin' cute?

Yes. Well.

One more photo.

It was crazy windy that day. But we showed it, we had fun anyway! Take that Autumn! Oh wait. No. I love Autumn, there is no malice between us. Especially now that I have freshly picked apples.

Amigurumis

I've been meaning to post these for a week now. These. These are the amigurmis that Mia made for me for our dolly swap. I love them so much it pains me. They are so perfectly crafted and exactly what I was hoping to receive through this swap. They are a little shy and so have yet to tell me their names. But I am patient. Also? The weather has been kind of icky lately, so this is the best picture I have of them so far.

Amigurumis

Go over to Mia's blog, though. She has better pictures of them there. AND! She is now blogging in English! Weee! I can finally look at the pretty pictures and read what she is saying.

Aren't they the cutest things you have ever seen? Oh! And? The little monk guy? His robe comes off! I will get a picture. I am thinking that they need to come with me on some adventures here in the USofA. K. Now I need to go have some. Have a great weekend everybody!

Kayori

Okay, so I can finally show you the completed dolly that I made for a personal swap with Mia. She has arrived safe and sound in Sweden and has been named...you guessed it...Kayori. First off, let me say thank you to Mia for suggesting this swap, because I had so much fun. It was, as I think I said before, the kick in the pants that I needed for creativity.

And, secondly...here she is!

Booip_standing1

Booip_standing2

She was inspired by some photos of Harajuku Girls that Mia had picked out. All of the photos that she had sent me were of the girls in pink, so she said that she must want something pink which surprised her as her favorite colors are purple and black. So, I thought I would try to give her all three. Here you can see her tights better. I call this the can-can shot.

Booip_cancan

Obviously, my original intent was to have the pink stripey tights to go with the pink dress. But when it was all done, the husband pointed out, and I quite agreed, that it needed some heaviness on the bottom. And he suggested I make shoes or socks. So, I made both. They are removable.

Booip_shoeoff

And this next shot cracks me up, it seems so urban artsy or something. Like I am trying to convey this deep message about...the shoe.

Booip_shoe

Oh. And since she has on a cat-eared hood, it was thought that she needed a mouse with which to play.

Booip_mouse

Booip_mouse2

A little odd looking, yes. But. Then. I am Odd Dotty!

And, last but not least, is this one. I just thought she looked so cute all curled up in the bag, I had to capture it.

Booip_inbag

So, thank you again Mia, I hope you enjoy her as much as I did making her!

Happy October

I don't know about you all, but I love love LOVE Autumn! And, for some reason I never think that it's Autumn until it's October. I'm not exactly sure why, but October feels different. It feels like Autumn. September feels like the end of Summer. And November feels like the beginning of Winter. But October. October is Autumn through and through! Maybe it's the pumpkins. Pumpkins make me smile. Especially the little ones that fit in my hanging basket.

Pumpkins

*sigh* I love October. Do you?
